This privacy policy explains how personal data is collected, processed, and protected on the website https://viaastrologica.com/. The website is operated by me, as a private blog, and personal data are processed under the Czech data protection law, as I reside in the Czech Republic. The content is written in English and created primarily for an international, European readership. the website is publicly accessible worldwide, and no geographic restrictions are applied. Regardless of a visitor’s location, all personal data processed through this website is handled in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is applied as the baseline privacy standard for all users of this site.

When you use the contact form, you provide the following personal data voluntarily:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • the subject and content of your message

Messages submitted in the contact form are deleted once the matter you contacted me about has been resolved or answered, typically within a reasonable period thereafter (up to a few months), unless a longer retention is required to comply with a legal obligation or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

When you submit a comment on this website, the following personal data are collected and processed:

  • your name,
  • email address,
  • any other information you voluntarily provide in the comment form
  • technical data such as your IP address for security and moderation purposes.

To display a profile picture next to your comment, this website uses Gravatar, a service provided by Automattic, Inc. (USA, certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). When you submit a comment, your email address is converted into an anonymised hash and sent to Gravatar to check whether a matching image exists. If you have not registered an account with Gravatar, no personal data is retained by Gravatar, and a generic default image is shown instead. This processing is based on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).

Certain cookies are set to remember your name and email address only if you agree by selecting a checkbox. You can find more information in the “Cookies and Analytics” section.

These data are collected to manage and moderate comments, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and facilitate communication if necessary. I process your personal data solely to respond to your inquiries sent via the contact form. The legal basis for this processing is your explicit consent, which you give by checking the mandatory consent checkbox before submitting the form.

This website uses cookies and tracking technologies only as necessary for technical functioning and to manage your cookie consent preferences.

For website analytics, I use WP Statistics, a self-hosted analytics plugin installed directly on my server. Because it is self-hosted, visitor statistics are not transmitted to any third-party company, external analytics provider, or server outside the hosting environment.   • Referring Pages
    • Notes the URLs that referred traffic to the site (e.g., search engines or social media).
  • User-Agent Details
    • Stores simplified browser and device information by default.
  • IP Address (anonymised or hashed)
    • anonymised or hashed IP addresses so they cannot be used to identify individual visitors.
  • Geolocation
    • Estimates the visitor’s country/region/city based on IP. IP addresses themselves aren’t stored by default – only summarized location data.

Detailed analytics data is automatically aggregated after 180 days; from that point onward, only summarized visitor and pageview totals are retained, and individual detail rows are permanently deleted.

For the purpose of commenting, I use a plugin which sets cookies based on the choices users make when submitting comments (e.g., to remember user information and comment preferences). These cookies help improve the commenting experience and are only activated if you give explicit consent by selecting the relevant options in the comment form. For more details about the types and purposes of these cookies, please refer to the wpDiscuz documentation. Certain cookies are set based on your consent when you post a comment. 5. Data Security and Anti-Spam Measures

All data transmitted through this website is encrypted via HTTPS. The website is additionally protected by Cloudflare’s security services against unauthorized access, spam, and abuse. The use of Cloudflare Turnstile is based on the legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and relevant provisions of the Czech data protection law) to protect the website from spam and abuse. Cloudflare Turnstile processes a variety of client-side signals (“Signals”) such as client IP address, TLS Fingerprint, User-Agent Header and Sitekey and associated origin. Cloudflare does not have the ability to directly identify any individuals from any of the Signals Turnstile collects, including IP addresses. Cloudflare processes this type of information on behalf of me in their data centres in the U.S. and Europe for a limited period of time. More information can be found on their privacy policy page and GDPR dedicated page. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (e.g. to the United States), Cloudflare relies on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and/or certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework to ensure an adequate level of protection. 6. Astrology Calculators

The calculators on this website send the details you enter, such as the date, place, and time of birth, along with any options you select, to my calculation service to perform the calculation. This data:

  • is transmitted in encrypted form (HTTPS)
  • is not stored or logged on the calculation server
  • is used solely to carry out a single calculation and is discarded immediately once the result has been returned to you
  • is protected by the same Cloudflare Turnstile mechanism described above.

The legal basis for this processing is the performance of a service that you have explicitly requested by clicking the calculate button.

7. Data Storage and Hosting

Personal data submitted via the contact or comment form is securely stored on servers located within the European Economic Area (EEA). The hosting provider processes data on my behalf under a data processing agreement in compliance with applicable data protection laws. 8. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and Czech data protection laws, you have the right to:

  • access your personal data and receive information about its processing,
  • request correction or deletion of your personal data,
  • restrict processing of your data,
  • withdraw consent at any time,
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority,
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests.

Please note that for Gravatar, checking the comment email against Gravatar’s database happens automatically as part of the comment system for every commenter and cannot be selectively disabled per user. If you do not wish for this check to occur, please do not submit a comment. For security measures such as Cloudflare Turnstile, the object right may also be limited, as such processing is necessary to protect the website from spam and abuse and cannot reasonably be disabled on an individual basis.

9. Data Breach Procedures

In the event of a personal data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, I will notify the competent supervisory authority (ÚOOÚ) within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, in accordance with Article 33 GDPR.

Where the breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, I will make reasonable efforts to inform affected individuals directly, in accordance with Article 34 GDPR — for example, by email, where I hold accurate contact details (such as those submitted through the contact form).

For comments, where the email field is optional and unverified, contact details may be missing, inaccurate, or fictitious, making direct notification unreliable or impossible in many cases. Where individual notification is not feasible or would involve disproportionate effort, I will instead issue a public notice on this website, in accordance with Article 34(3)(c) GDPR.

10. Children’s Privacy

This website and its content are not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 15. If you believe that a child has provided personal data through the contact form or comment section, please contact me so that I can delete it.
