Operation Rising Lion in terms of astrology of war

Astrology as a system of knowledge allows us to describe the quality of time at the given moment and, thanks to that, offers the possibility, at least in the opinion of astrologers, to determine the best moment to start military actions or to assess which side has a higher chance of victory. This is the area of focus of the so-called astrology of war and a good case for analysis may be operation Rising Lion which begun lately. The purpose of this post is not to judge which side of this conflict is morally on the right side, but rather to examine the horoscope of war just for research purpose.

Horoscope for the start of the attack

On June 13, 2025, Israel launched a missile strike against Iran. This is an escalation of the conflict that has simmered for a few decades. Let’s check what is happening in the horoscope of the beginning of the firing in terms of rules provided by Opus Astrologicum1 written by Nicolas Culpeper and Guido Bonatti’s Book Of Astronomy2.

So let’s have a look at the horoscope of the Israeli operation.

In that kind of chart, similarly to sport or horary astrology, the Ascendant represents the attacker whereas the Descendant represents the one under attack and when you start a war, you need to ensure a strong placement of the Ascendant’s lord.

If evil Planets be in the Ascendent, or the Lord of the Ascendent be in his fall, the Querent will be vanquished.

Opus Astrologicum by N. Culpeper

Venus, Lord of The Ascendant, is in the sign of her domicile whereas Mars, Lord of the Descendant, is in Leo where he has less dignity. This is a strong testimony in favour of Israel.

The assailant alwaies loseth the battail, if the Lord of the Ascendent be an infortune, or retrograde, or combust.

Opus Astrologicum by N. Culpeper

As mentioned above, Venus in Taurus is a strong testimony in favour of Israel. On the other hand, Mars in Leo also doesn’t show weakness of Iran.

If the Lord of the Ascendent be in the fourth House not impedited, or give good aspect to the Lord of the fourth, the Querent will obtain victory, honor, and profit.

Opus Astrologicum by N. Culpeper

Both, Venus and Mars, don’t form any applying aspects to the ruler of the fourth (Moon) or tenth (Saturn) house.

If the Ascendent be a fixed Signe, the War will hold long; if a moveable Signe, but a little while; if a mean Signe, indifferent.

Opus Astrologicum by N. Culpeper

The escalation of the conflict may therefore last long, unfortunately.

And you will see if the Sun and the Moon were located from the line of the X house up to the line of the IV house, on the side of the Ascendant; […] and they were free and clean (namely fortunate and strong) because they will signify the war’s victory on the side in which they are.

Book Of Astronomy by G. Bonatti

The Sun in the 23rd degree of Gemini is in his decan which is not much dignity but at least something, and he is on the side of Ascendant so according to this rule, Israel is the side who is likely to win. What does “to win” mean in this case? I don’t know because from my personal point of view, citizens of neither side benefit from war.

Elections

In elections for the time after a new or full moon, it is worth to check the last lunation. The attack on Iran took place just two days after the full moon in Sagittarius. In the chart cast for the moment of this full moon, Mars, the planet of war, conjunct the Ascendant in fiery Leo which is a very obvious omen.

The Moon applies to malefic Mars, which doesn’t seem to be a good sign. The action started after such transit will start well but end in failure. In addition, the Moon is in the eighth house in the horoscope of the event, and that house is never considered as a positive significator. On the other hand, if we consider the seventh house of the event as a subject (battle) then the lunation degree falls in the eighth house of the event which is the second counting from the seventh house – it means the whole military operation may end good for Israel, but things may get complicated meanwhile.

Horoscope of Israel

The horoscope of Israel seems interesting in terms of this conflict. One can quickly notice that the rulers of main axis in the horoscope of Israel are the same as in the horoscope of the attack.

Horoscope Of The Sun Ingress Aries

Except analysing the horoscope of the conflict, one can also look at the annual horoscope for the country to assess whether it will be a good year or not. Here again, one can notice the sign of the Ascendant is repeated – Cancer. The Lord of the Year is Mars, a warrior planet. Mars falls in the first house, however, in Cancer he is in fall. This Year will be another one marked by the military conflict, and it rather won’t be a good year.

Conclusions

The timing of Israel’s attack on Iran appears to be astrologically well-calibrated. The Sun Ingress chart shows that Israel will take battles this year. The elections of the event do not provide a strong testimony for a success of Israel, but the horoscope of the event itself is showing strength of Israel and provides a solid testimony of the victory in favour of Israel. Even if, in the end, Israel wins, as it is indicated by the location of the Sun in the horoscope of the beginning of a military conflict, the price of this attack will be disproportionate to the benefits because it seems the power of the enemy was underestimated.
