Lilith represents the apogee (the farthest point) of the Moon’s elliptical orbit around Earth. Together with the Black Moon, these terms are often used interchangeably, but the Black Moon refers to an empty focal point of the Moon’s orbit. From the perspective of someone standing on Earth, both points appear to be in the same degree of the zodiac, which likely explains the interchangeable use of the terms.
In astrology, Lilith is often associated with a shadow, secrets, repression or the dark side of a human nature. It can signify areas where an individual confronts social expectations, experience inner conflicts, including unconscious or repressed aspects of sexuality. While Lilith’s significance is vast, some say it can indicate same-sex attraction in men. In this post, I will try to document my observation on this topic using horoscopes of famous men who have publicly identified as gay. This is not an attempt to reduce identity to one aspect or point in the natal chart, but rather to observe recurring patterns and verify how the astrological theory applies to the real horoscopes. All individuals featured here have openly shared their orientation, and the purpose of this post is purely educational. It aims to explore how Lilith as a symbol of inner truth, resistance, and liberation may appear in the charts of men who have followed their own path outside heteronormative norms.
RuPaul
RuPaul Andre Charles is the most famous American drag queen, mostly known from his TV series competition RuPaul’s Drag Race. He married Georges LeBar in 2017. In RuPaul’s natal chart, Lilith forms a trine to both the Moon and the Sun and is conjunct Mars.

Yves Saint-Laurent was a French fashion designer who decided to join in a same-sex civil union with Pierre Bergé before he passed away in 2008. In his natal chart, Lilith forms square to Mars and to the Moon.

Jean-Paul Gaultier was also a French fashion designer. In his horoscope, Lilith is located exactly on Midheaven in square to the Moon and the Sun.

Conclusion
The origins of homosexuality are complex and not fully understood – encompassing biological, psychological, social, and personal factors. Astrology, similarly, does not offer one fixed pattern that “reveals” sexual orientation in the natal chart. While Lilith can reflect themes related to suppressed desires, inner conflicts, or resistance to norms, it is only one part of a much larger picture.
Is Lilith the only indicator of homosexuality in a natal chart? No. During my brief research, I have collected more horoscopes of publicly declared gays where Lilith didn’t form any significant aspects than those where Lilith was a strong testimony of a homosexuality.
Can sexual orientation be guessed from a horoscope? In my opinion, no, not definitively, but we may find hints or themes, but they may point to something else. It appears that Lilith’s aspects to the Moon and the Sun may suggest something significant. However, I believe they speak more about the way the individual relates to or experiences their orientation, rather than defining it.
Does the fact that your husband or boyfriend has Lilith trine the Moon mean he’s gay? One aspect is not enough to draw such a conclusion. Natal chart can be a guideline, not a technical specification of a human. Use it with respect. The most respectful and accurate way to know someone’s orientation is simple ask them and respect their choice to share it or not. That is a matter of autonomy, not astrology.
