On Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, during the first super full moon of the year, the United States launched a series of airstrikes on Venezuela and captured the president Nicolás Maduro and his wife. The military operation named Operation Absolute Resolve started around 2:00 UTC-4 and is a continuation of the US campaign against the Maduro government, in which the US accuses the Venezuelan authorities of flooding the US with drugs and gang members¹. The airstrikes mainly aimed to the area around Caracas, including airports, and a harbour. The Venezuelan President together with his wife have been brought to New York City, where they faced several charges related to narcoterrorism. This conflict did not start recently. Media had previously reported airstrikes launched by the US², but the January operation that led to the capture of the Venezuelan President seems to be the beginning of a full-scale war between the US and Venezuela.

So, the whole world is watching with bated breath the next military conflict, meanwhile I am going to analyse the horoscope of the military operation initiated by the US.

The horoscope of the airstrikes

I will follow the principles of Culpeper’s Opus Astrologicum³ to read the horoscope of that conflict. So the ascendant in Scorpio represents the USA, since this country launched the first strike. For that reason, the US is represented by Mars. In addition, the ascendant in the fixed sign indicate that the conflict will be rather long-term. The descendant in Taurus, in turn, together with Venus, represents Venezuela. Both enemy planets occupy Capricorn. While Mars is exalted in Capricorn, Venus is only a ruler of earth triplicity. Both planets sit in the 3rd cadent house, which weaken them, but Mars – the USA has much more essential dignity in Capricorn than Venus – Venezuela.

In addition, both planets are combust, but the Sun does not seem to be able to debilitate them seriously, at least Mars dwelling the sign of his exaltation. But, according to Culpeper, combust planet leads to defeat, but the question is of which side. It is Venezuela, most likely, the side most affected by the combustion, since Venus is much weaker than Mars and closer to the Sun. Furthermore, Mars is very close to the fixed star Vega, a supportive star, giving success or luck, which may support Americans. Pluto, even despite is a planet not considered in traditional astrology, sitting on the Imum Coeli (the cusp of the 4th house) cannot be ignored and additionally weaken Venezuela. Finally, both Mars and Venus are located on the assailant’s side – Venezuela is under the US rule. This horoscope clearly shows the weakness of Venezuela and that the USA will achieve the intended goals.

Interesting Aspects

Looking at the horoscope of Venezuela, it can be seen that Uranus is transiting the Venezuelan descendant, marking for the country the time of Uranian devastating nature.

The ascendant of Venezuela falls in the 12th house in the horoscope of the United States. According to Ptolemy’s Centiloquium⁶ it indicates that Venezuela is an enemy of the US.

Conclusions

To sum up, it is unlikely that an astrologer was consulted regarding the timing of the attack, since there were better horoscopes that could have been selected e.g. with Cancer, Sagittarius or Pisces on the ascendant. The airstrikes’ horoscope, however, shows US advantage over Venezuela and this is confirmed by what media report. The action was prepared long before the attack, everything was carried out precisely and quickly⁸, which is indicated by the strong position of Mars. According to the horoscope above, the conflict will not end soon, however, I guess the media will probably soon focus on different topics.
