The Solar Eclipse of February 2026

February 2026 will bring interesting astrological events. For example, at the beginning of the month, Uranus will end his five-month retrograde or the Sun will move from Aquarius into Pisces, starting the final phase in the astrological year. But in this post I will focus on an annular solar eclipse which will take place on February 17th and the impact it will have on countries. Though, for those living in the Northern Hemisphere, the phenomenon will be visible only on the astrological wheel while being observable mainly over Antarctica, which may lead to some intriguing conclusions.

Solar Eclipse

The upcoming solar eclipse will be the first eclipse of the year 2026, and will only be visible in Antarctica, French Southern Territories, and partially in southern countries of Africa1. It will take place in the sign of Aquarius, the sign of themes such as independence, progress, innovations, and creativity, but also a sense of how important a community is. With Aquarius are associated, among others, such regions and countries like Croatia, southern states and some cities of Germany, and they may be affected by this eclipse.

The fixed sign of Aquarius, in which the eclipse will take place, indicates that the effects of it will be very lasting. And due to the airy quality of Aquarius, these effects will be like food supply problems, plagues, and heavy storms, which are the air-related phenomena. In addition, this eclipse may herald farm animal diseases.

Africa

The eclipse may impact South Africa or Madagascar, potentially causing disruptions for approximately 2 years and 6 months, given its duration2. However, the impact is likely to be weak.

French Southern Territories

The eclipse over the French Southern Territories, according to the data available3, will last 2 hours and 57 minutes, which means the effects may influence the state for almost three years. These territories are sparsely inhabited, mainly by scientists and military staff4; however, they belong to France, so the continental part of the state may also fall under the influence of this eclipse, but I somehow doubt that.

The USA

Checking my charts’ collection I found out that this eclipse falls at the degree close to the degree of the Moon in the US horoscope. In mundane astrology the Moon symbolises among others the people, while the 6th house is linked to the working class, public clerks, and trade unions.

The eclipse belongs to the saros cycle 1216. The previous eclipse of this cycle took place in 2008, in Aquarius, in the 6th house too, but not so close to the Moon in the US chart. In 2008, there was a huge financial crisis in the US7. However, the forecast for the US in 2026 is rather positive8. If Aquarius is a sign associated to revolutions and one follows news from the US, then one can deduce that the USA may experience an escalation of anti-government protests. One can already find news about the harsh tensions between the US government and protesters9. Let’s have a look at Saturn, the ruler of Aquarius and thus of the eclipse. Saturn entered Aries four days before the eclipse. In Aries, the planet is in fall and generally considered as malevolent, and being the ruler of the eclipse does not help in this case. Saturn is also a ruler of the ascendant, so his bad influence is even stronger. Both, the horoscope of the USA and for the eclipse, have similar positions of planets such as Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto. Even Uranus and Saturn, despite being in different signs, have positions close to those in the US horoscope. This highlights the importance of this eclipse for the USA.

Conclusions

While eclipses are usually considered as bad omens, it seems that, for Europe overall, this eclipse is unlikely to be considered such. For the US, on the other hand, the 2026 may be a breakthrough year.
