This year’s Eurovision Song Contest, as usual, wouldn’t be true Eurovision without scandals and dramas. I, personally, needed a few weeks break after seeing the outcome of the jury voting (or rather not voting) for Justyna Steczkowska and her song “Gaja”. Once the dust settled, I wanted to check the astrological aspects of the contest in terms of sport astrology principles. I used John Addey’s system described in Sports Astrology written by John Frawley1. The system, as the book’s tittle suggests, is intended for predicting races outcomes, but what is the Eurovision if not some kind of weird race? The system is simple and typing the winner planet is easy, whereas the most difficult part is to associate the planet with a competitor. So, below is the horoscope cast for the moment of the Grand Final beginning.

House system: Campanus
The system is very straightforward. You need to move the cusp of the fifth house along the sign where it is located and find the planet making an aspect with that moving cusp. You can use Uranus, Pluto, Neptune, and asteroids as well as minor aspects, so this is one of not many cases where “more is more”. In the above example, the cusp of the fifth house is in 8°55′ Aries and the planet making an aspect (conjunction) with such moving cusp is Venus in 12°06′ Aries.
Now, the funniest part of this riddle is to check which song or artist can be associated with Venus in Aries. Luckily for me, this is already an analysis after the fact, so we know who won and by the way, this victory is well deserved. Venus in Aries, planet of love in the sign of her exile where she is prevented from realizing her potential positively, perfectly match with “Wasted Love” performed by JJ (Johannes Pietsch) representing Austria3. Is there any better association between Venus in Aries, the sign of her exile, and the title of the winning song?
Eurovision 2024
I thought, I would check what the horoscope of the Eurovision final 2024 shows. In this horoscope, the cusp of the fifth house falls in 5°34′ Aries and the nearest aspect, this cusp makes, is semi-square to the Sun in 21°33′ Taurus (right on the Descendant at 21°45′ Taurus). Sun is exactly on the Descendant and in close conjunction with Uranus (23°00′ Taurus).

House system: Campanus
What does the Sun mean in this horoscope? Definitely, a round pictogram of the Sun will not lead us to the solution of this puzzle because the circle is probably the most favourite shape used in Eurovision visualizations. Taurus itself points to some country traditionally associated with cows, which may mean Switzerland maybe, but also Ireland seems relevant here. So we have two candidates, but we already know that Ireland didn’t win the Eurovision 2024. So, could it be Uranus? Extravagant, unusual image of the Swiss artist may be signified by this planet but actually being extravagant on Eurovision is commonness, so this doesn’t seem to be a strong testimony. I couldn’t also find any association between titles or artists’ names and the Sun conjunct Uranus and Descendant in Taurus.
So, what exactly, in the above horoscope, shows the victory of the Swiss artist and their song “The Code”? I was thinking about it and I decided to check the horoscope of Switzerland.

What I have found is quite intriguing. The Swiss Descendant (21°27′ Taurus) falls in the same degree as the Sun (21°33′ Taurus) and the Descendant (21°45′ Taurus) in the horoscope of the Grand Final in 2024.
Conclusions
To sum up, to assess the infallibility of the John Addey’s system in the case of competitions other than sports, one would have to check dozens of horoscopes. The system is highly dependent on the personal associations of an astrologer, and post factum analysis is much easier here because one look for a connection between the known outcome and the result given by the method. If one had to bet on a result that is not yet known, I think it would be much more difficult. Nevertheless, I like this method and I will definitely try to predict the result of Eurovision 2026 next year. Although after seeing the voting results this year, I would like to turn off the broadcast before the results’ announcement phase so it will not disappoint me again.
